Nau Mai Haere Mai, Welcome to Kiwi Treasures.

This is the rhythm of our day...

Please note: This only an indication of the rhythm of the day. It is flexible and tailored to suit the individual needs of our tamariki.

Morning...

Our doors are open to greet our whānau and tamariki at 8am.

Our environment is set up to engage tamariki with learning opportunities as they arrive.

Tamariki bring lunch boxes from home and have access to these at any time throughout the morning.
This enables them to regulate their eating and supports them to selecting nutritional foods.
Kaiako will sit with tamariki while they are eating to support them with opening packets and containers and sometimes this can help them to settle into their day.

The outdoor area is available to children at all times, unless the children are all inside – we go with the flow. Our kaiako provide thoughtful play opportunities that enable tamariki to choose their own experiences and drive their own learning.

Lunchtime...

We tidy up a little and come together for mat-time. This is a time where we discuss our morning, current events and interests, sing waiata, and share stories.

Our younger tamariki have lunch while the older tamariki have mat-time.
Karakia is shared as a group before we enjoy our kai.

Tamariki are supported to sleep or rest throughout the day when they feel they need to.

Afternoon...

After the tamariki have eaten, the outdoor area is open for those who have finished and would like to move on to continue their play. Kaiako reset the environment to engage tamariki and tamariki are supported and encouraged to help tidy up an area before moving on to a new activity.

Tamariki have their lunchboxes at any time throughout the afternoon. Kaiako will sit with tamariki while they are eating and invite tamariki to come together for afternoon tea, if they have not yet eaten.

Spontaneous play is valued as meaningful learning for all of our tamariki while spending time at Kiwi Treasures. Their ideas are emerged in the programme while learning alongside each other building their interests and developing confidence, resilience and independence.

Rōpū Tuakana...

Our tuakana tamariki are supported with their learning throughout the day with opportunies to experience new challenges and to build their confidence in themselves as learners. We support our older tamariki to expand their thinking by encouraging listening and co-operative skills. This develops new pathways for learning as they prepare for school.

We close the centre and farewell our whānau and tamariki for another day at 5.30pm.
